Frequently Asked Questions

The Cryo T Star Body

How Does Cryo T Star Body Work?

When areas of the body have more fat than others – the thighs or stomach for example – there is typically inadequate blood supply to those areas. The Cryo STAR procedure begins by heating the subcutaneous fat cells, which increases blood flow and fluids to the area. After a few minutes, the treatment drops to cold temperatures, rapidly reducing blood flow and crystalizing the fluids to destroy fat cells. Fat cells are effectively destroyed in the target area, while smoothing the skin and without harming the surrounding tissue. The exact sequencing and modulation of temperatures and durations is specifically programmed for the targeted area of the body and the desired effect – fat reduction, skin lifting & firming, cellulite reduction for example. Using different size wands, the treatment can be performed for any part of the body or face. For any other questions give us a call!

How Many Cryo STAR Treatments Do I Need?

It depends largely on the area or areas that you would like to slim and tone. Some areas require more sessions, while others achieve optimal results in fewer sessions. Typically, though, you can expect between 5 -10 sessions combining both fat cell blasting and skin tightening/toning sessions to achieve significant transformation for a major area. By comparison, a lesser transformation on a smaller area may require only 1 – 3 sessions. During your free consultation, we will create a customized treatment plan that reflects your personal goals and priorities.

What Does Cryo Treatment Feel Like?

The 45 – 60 minute treatments are non-invasive and painless. Most individuals find that it feels like a light massage. In fact, it’s not uncommon to fall asleep during the procedure!

Are Cryo Results Permanent?

Yes, the fat cell removal results are permanent, but it’s still important to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The fat cells that have been frozen and are processed through the body will never return. But the fat cells that remain can still expand. A lifestyle focusing on health and wellness will help you maintain your results for a long time.

How Often Can I Do Cryo Treatments?

Cryo STAR Slimming treatments to eliminate fat cells are best for the abdomen, love handles, underarms, bra line, glutes, chin, and inner/outer thighs. These slimming treatments can be performed every 2 weeks. Since the treated fat cells are evacuated through your lymphatic system and eventually pass through the kidneys, allowing 2 weeks between treatments ensures that your lymphatic system and kidneys are not overly taxed. Cryo STAR toning treatments can be performed every 2 – 3 days and are ideal for face, arms, legs, back, as well as abdomen and stomach.

Are There Side Effects to Cryo therapy?

Generally, no side effects are anticipated apart from increased urination over the several days following treatment. In some cases, there can be localized redness that disappears after a few hours. In rare cases, there can be localized pain that disappears after a few hours. In very rare cases, there can be muscle soreness from treatments on the stomach area due to unintentionally engaging the stomach muscles. This soreness is expected to disappear the same day.

Individuals suffering from severe kidney disease or on dialysis, have active cancer or are undergoing chemotherapy, have severe diabetes or are pregnant should not undergo Cryo STAR treatments. Individuals with an open abdominal hernia should not receive a Cryo STAR slimming treatment in that area.

You should wait 2 weeks following any neurotoxin injection, such as botox or Juvederm, and 4 weeks following any filler injections before receiving any Cryo STAR facial treatment.

Cryo Facial

How Many Cryo Facial Sessions are Needed to See Results?

Cryo Facials are like fitness – one training session gives certain outcomes, but the long-lasting effect requires consistency. We recommend Cryo Facial Treatment frequencies of 1-2 times per week for your initial course and maintenance treatments every 3 to 5 weeks.

Are There Any Post-Treatment Precautions?

Usually, there are no precautions needed post-treatment, unless side-effects kick in, which is extremely rare.

Is a Cryo Facial Painful?

Cryo Facial treatments definitely feels cold but totally bearable. A slight tingling sensation may be expected after the session ends. Cryogenic facelift procedures do not require downtime, and the client may return to the usual daily routine right after the treatment.

Are There Any Side Effects Related to Cryo Facials?

In most cases, cold facials are totally safe. Sometimes, however, extreme cold exposure can result in numbness or frostbite, skin redness, or eruptions on the skin a few days after the treatment. Normally, these side effects recede in a short time.

In some clients, the skin may become more sensitive to temperature changes after Cryo Facials, so it is recommended to avoid exposing the skin to extreme temperatures or chemical peels right after the freezing procedure.

Temporary dryness or even flakiness can also appear after the treatment. In this case, hydrating creams or essences can help.

Who Can Benefit From Cryo Facial?

Cryofacial is good for all skin types, irrespective of age and lifestyle, but especially for sensitive and dry skin because of anti-inflammatory and skin-tightening effects.

Clients with dull or tired skin, loose skin, signs of aging, acne-prone skin, and uneven skin tone will surely benefit from the cryolifting procedure.

Who Is Not Eligible for Cryo Facials?

Though Cryo Facials are generally suitable for most customer groups, there are some categories that should not do these procedures. Cryogenic treatments are not recommended for those who have:

  • Neurotoxin Injections (e.g. Botox) 30 days prior to a session
  • Facial Fillers 90 days prior to a session
  • Severe Raynaud’s syndrome or cold allergies
  • Bacterial and virus infections on the skin
  • Skin cancers
  • Progressive neuropathies
  • Non-healing wounds in the treatment area
  • Body piercings in the treatment area that can not be removed
  • Application of topical antibiotics in the treatment area

Isolated Red Light Therapy

Why Use Celluma For Red Light Therapy?

At NuWave, we have selected Celluma, the most award winning and most innovative brand of LED therapy for isolated body and facial treatments. Celluma is trusted by tens of thousands of healthcare professionals in more than 100 countries. Celluma’s FDA approved and patented “shape-taking” design uses combinations of blue, red and near-infrared light energy to effectively delivery the benefits of LED therapy. The Celluma device is flexible and “shape-taking”, meaning that it will conform to the desired shape for a part of the body or the face, without the need to hold it in place or to use a stand/cradle.

What does Blue LED do?

Blue LED light is approved by the FDA to treat Inflammatory acne.

When should you not use LED Light Therapy?

  • If you are taking any photo-sensitive medications and for 3 – 5 days after discontinuing any phot-sensitive medications.
  • If you are on injection steroidal medication.
  • Do not use over your abdominal area if you are pregnant. Other areas, such as face, are OK.
  • Do not use over your breasts or abdominal area if you are breastfeeding. Other areas, such as face, are OK.
  • Do not use if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures.
  • Do not use over any cancerous or any known metastasis without prior approval from your physician and other relevant, qualified medical professionals.
  • Children under the age of twelve must have written approval from both their parent/guardian and their primary care physician.

Does Celluma treat eczema or psoriasis or rosacea?

Neither Celluma, nor any other LED device, is FDA-cleared for the treatment of eczema, psoriasis, or rosacea. However, the wavelengths used in red and infrared light are great at decreasing inflammation. They also increase micro-circulation and cause vasodilation which can result in healthier tissue, as it brings more oxygenated and nutrient-rich blood into the area.

What does Near-infrared LED do?

Near-Infrared penetrates deeper into the skin(about 25mm) and is also beneficial in healing wounds, cuts, scars, and infections. But, since it also stimulates the deeper tissues, the result is a healing effect on muscles deep in the subcutaneous tissues.

Is Light Therapy Safe?

Low-level LED light therapy is a highly safe and non-invasive treatment, making it suitable for all skin types and ages. Unlike other light-based treatments, there is no UV light and, thus, no risk of burning or other skin damage. The light emitted by the LEDs penetrates the skin gently, promoting healing and rejuvenation with zero pain and zero recovery time.

When scheduling your first cryotherapy treatment, please give us a call to determine if you are a good candidate for cryotherapy.

How does light therapy affect pain and inflammation?

Poor circulation and the lack of oxygen and other essential molecules (i.e., glucose, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)) in blood vessels can cause pain or a lack of sensation. Macrophages exposed to red light therapy release cytokines (over 100 proteins produced by white blood cells that signal immune response to inflammation) that stimulate the production of growth factors influencing the inflammatory process, healing, and wound repair.

Can I use serums or masks while getting a Celluma Light facial treatment?

Anything placed on the skin has the potential to act as a barrier to light energy absorption, especially if it is oily, shiny, opaque, or contains anything that could reflect light (e.g. mineral-based products or sunblock). For these reasons, we recommend clean, dry, bare skin when using Celluma.

LED light therapy has been extensively studied and used in clinical settings for decades, with a strong track record of safety. The vast majority people experience no side effects, and the treatment is so gentle that it can be used regularly to maintain skin and hair health.

EMS

Can I Use EMS On Any Part of My Body?

We can use EMS to target virtually any major muscle group, including abs, glutes, quads, hamstrings, biceps, triceps, pecs, lats, and traps.

Can I Use EMS on Multiple Body Parts Per Session?

We recommend only one area of the body per EMS session, so that you can maximize the results for that area. Treating multiple areas simultaneously usually creates a feeling that is too intense. However, you can definitely do back-to-back EMS sessions. For example, you can do one 30-minute abdominal session followed by another 30-minute glute session.

Am I a Good Candidate For EMS?

In general, healthy individuals who are already following a sensible nutrition and exercise program are well-qualified for EMS. Because it enhances the progress you make in the gym, it serves as a supplement to the work you’re already doing.

Use EMS alongside your regular strength training to see faster gains by activating more muscle fibers at once. If you’re considering EMS, you’ll see the best results if you’re already at or close to your target body weight, because layers of fat will hide muscle definition and prevent those lean, cut lines from emerging.

If you want to shed body fat quickly in a safe, non-invasive way with zero recovery time and zero pain, check out our Cryo T Star body slimming and sculpting treatments. Cryo T Star fat freezing treatments EMS treatments can be combined with our Cryo T Star fat freezing treatments to provide the muscle development needed to support your long-term fitness goals.

Does EMS Work For Back or Neck Pain?

EMS for back pain and neck pain delivers a range of benefits, including pain relief, reduced muscle spasms, improved circulation, and the release of endorphins. As a non-invasive and drug-free option, it offers convenience and accessibility for individuals seeking relief from back or neck discomfort. It can be an effective alternative to medications, especially for those seeking a non-pharmaceutical treatment or those who are not a candidate for certain medications due to contraindications or side effects.

What Happens During an EMS Session?

While getting EMS treatments, you’ll relax in one of our comfortable private Spa Rooms while the device stimulates the desired muscle group via electrodes attached to your skin. Each treatment lasts about 30 minutes and is entirely non-invasive, which means no disruption to your daily routine.

What Should I Expect After EMS?

While EMS does not require any downtime, you will likely feel soreness and muscle fatigue, just like when you complete a challenging workout. If you experience soreness and tightness, you can stretch gently or do any other recovery techniques that you would normally do after a routine trip to the gym.

How Often Can I Do EMS Sessions?

Just like with the gym, you can do EMS every day, but like any intense workout that isolates a particular muscle group, we recommend 2 – 3 days recovery time between treatments of the same muscle group.

Does EMS Help Me Lose Weight?

Electrical muscle stimulation is not a substitute for a healthy diet plan and a regular fitness routine. The goal of EMS is to integrate with your workouts to create better results than weightlifting and cardio alone.

Does EMS Create Permanent Results?

EMS results can be long-lasting, but for the best results, you will need to be willing to continue your efforts to reshape your body with exercise and nutrition.

Do EMS Treatments Hurt?

No! EMS does produce the sensation of muscle contractions, but the intensity and frequency of these contractions will be tuned to your tolerance level and is entirely painless. Though there is an electrical charge involved, you will not feel any shock.

How Often Should I Do Zerobody Cryo Treatments to Experience Benefits?

Cryotherapy treatments are generally performed one to three times a week in order to achieve and maintain the benefits. However, many people experience immediate benefits related to joint and muscle pain, mood, energy and improved sleep.

Why is Cryotherapy Not FDA Approved?

Can Anyone Do The Zerobody Cryo Dry Plunge?

Although complications are rare for individuals without underlying medical conditions, exposure to extreme cold carries some risk for anyone.

We encourage anyone interested in cryotherapy treatments to first discuss with their primary care physician, along with any other medical specialists currently caring for them.

How Often Do I Need to Do Light Therapy Sessions to Experience the Benefits?

Although you may experience some benefit immediately following the first session, most individuals need 2 – 3 sessions per week to experience the full benefits. Like many therapies, consistency is the key!

What is the Difference Between Infrared Saunas and Red / Infrared Light Beds?

While both therapies use the term “infrared”, they are actually completely different treatments. Infrared saunas use light to generate heat. Specifically, infrared saunas use FAR-infrared heat to stimulate circulation, increase circulations, and activate sweat glands for detoxification. Red Light Therapy uses a combination of red light and NEAR-infrared cold light that penetrates deep into the cell and does not involve producing heat to create health benefits. The health benefits come from reverse oxidative stress, reduced pain and inflammation, and improved cellular energy production.

Infrared Sauna

A Total Body Detox

Infrared Saunas help rids your body of heavy metals and environmental toxins, which have been linked to various diseases, including cancers, heart disease, and autoimmune diseases. Bonus: Infrared Saunas rid up to 7 times more toxins than a traditional sauna!

Immune System Health

When we increase our core temperature, our body is naturally triggered to strengthen and accelerate immune response. Additionally, bacteria and viruses can’t take the heat! Elevating core body temperature is a highly effective means of eliminating harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Studies suggest that regular sauna sessions may reduce the incidence of colds and flus by 65%!

Weight Loss

Relax and unwind as your body is hard at work, burning up to 600 calories in a single session! Working to regulate your body temperature, your heart is pumping blood at an increased rate to boost circulation, burn calories and increase your metabolism. Regular sauna treatments can increase your metabolic rate by 25% or more.

Anti-Aging & Skin Health

Regular Infrared Sauna use enhances skin hydration and improves skin appearance by expelling pollutants and chemicals trapped in the dermal layer and by increasing blood flow that brings essential nutrients to the skin surface.

When combined with red light therapy, IR saunas can stimulate collagen production, reducing wrinkles, firming skin and creating a glowing complexion.

Pain Relief & Muscle Recovery

When your core body temperature is increased, the result is increased circulation and oxygen flow to your joints, muscles, and tissue. In turn, this reduces soreness of nerve endings, helping the body heal naturally. This can be especially beneficial for some people suffering from arthritis.

Better Sleep & Lower Stress

Regular Infrared Sauna use, especially when combined with light therapy encourages the body to shift from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest”. Reducing the body’s toxic load also contributes to stress reduction and higher quality sleep.

WHAT IS URINARY INCONTENANCE?

The pelvic floor is the bowl-shaped group of muscles in the pelvis that supports the pelvic organs, including the bladder. The pelvic floor muscles can weaken over time, due to trauma, or with childbirth, leading to leakage of urine in response to pressure on the bladder. This leakage is known as stress urinary incontinence.

There are two kinds of urinary incontinence, both of which can compromise your quality of life:

  • Stress urinary incontinence can arise at some of the most inopportune times, such as when coughing, laughing, sneezing, or even exercising.
  • Urge incontinence is a sudden, intense urge to urinate that happens frequently. It can be triggered by the sound of running water or arise when you pull into your garage after a long day at work.

Our EMS pelvic floor therapy works to effective treat both kinds of urinary continence.

WHAT IS PELVIC PROLAPSE?

Pelvic organ prolapse is characterized by descent of pelvic organs from their normal positions into the vagina. In women, the condition usually occurs when the pelvic floor collapses after gynecological cancer treatment, childbirth or heavy lifting.
