Isolated Cryotherapy

isolated cryotherapy

Cold therapy has been used since ancient times to accelerate healing and relieve symptoms of muscle and joint pain, increase energy and improve mood. Athletes have always relied on cold therapies to speed recovery from injuries and enhance performance.

Localized cryotherapy exposes the body to ultra-low temperatures that range from -30 F to -35 F for short amounts of time. If you’ve ever put cold pack on a bruised limb for pain relief, this is the same thing — but much, much colder and way, way more efficient.

how does cryotherapy work?

The dry cold emitted penetrates through your skin and kicks your body into an anti-inflammatory response, unleashing your body’s endorphins and norepinephrines. As part of your body’s natural survival instinct, extreme cold triggers increased circulation and metabolism.

Cold therapy also reduces nerve conduction – the electrical signals, including pain signals – that travel through our nerves and causes our blood vessels to constrict, lowering levels of inflammation and swelling.

benefits of cryotherapy

Using our nitrogen-based cryotherapy wand, treatments will target specific areas of the body to reduce pain and speed recovery of injured muscle, tissue and joints, to improve mobility, to reduce swelling, and to accelerate healing of bruises, closed wounds and surgical incisions.

Can anyone do whole body Cryotherapy?

Although complications are rare for individuals without underlying medical conditions, exposure to extreme cold carries some risk for anyone.

We encourage anyone interested in cryotherapy treatments to first discuss with their primary care physician, along with any other medical specialists currently caring for them.

Additionally, for some underlying medical conditions, NuWave will request written approval from your physician or other qualified medical professional before participating in cryotherapy treatment.

Please note that due to the risks involved, NuWave clients are not permitted to participate in WBC treatments if they are pregnant, have acute renal or urinary disorders, cardiovascular or respiratory system diseases, circulatory problems including a history of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis, claustrophobia, fever, acute respiratory illness, have had a heart attack in the last 6 months, have a pacemaker or other implantable device, neuropathy or nerve damage, an open wound, skin infections, or wound-healing problems, severe cognitive disturbances, seizure disorders, alcohol or substance abuse disorders, untreated high blood pressure, unstable angina, or experience allergies related to cold. NuWave requires our clients to disclose any of these conditions when requesting WBC treatment.

When scheduling your first cryotherapy treatment, please give us a call to determine if you are a good candidate for cryotherapy.
