EMS PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY

Our caring and professional team at NuWave is here to help you reclaim your body and your confidence. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is an all-too-common problem as we age can severely impact our quality of life. Our pelvic floor muscles control our bladder, bowel movements, and contribute to overall sexual health. These muscles can become weak for a variety of reasons, including pregnancy, post-surgery, aging, and excess weight.

Those of us with compromised pelvic muscle function may experience urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction, and diminished sexual sensation.

The good news is that these muscles can be strengthened through several different therapeutic methods that can reduce or even eliminate the unpleasant and uncomfortable experiences associated with a weakened pelvic floor.

At NuWave, we are excited to offer our clients an effective, safe, painless, and totally noninvasive pelvic floor therapy that takes only 30 minutes per session in the privacy of one of our blissful spa rooms. As your muscles become stronger, you’ll experience less discomfort and improved function.

OUR CORE TO FLOOR APPROACH AT NUWAVE

A strong pelvic floor, particularly when combined with a strong core, has benefits above and beyond improving urinary incontinence. At NuWave, we recommend a “Core to Floor” approach that strengthens the entire lower abdomen, helping to enhance athletic performance, quality of life, and sexual health. During your initial visit, we will discuss options for creating a custom program that incorporates both EMS Pelvic Floor treatments with EMS Abdominal & Gluteal muscle strengthening treatments to reach your health and wellness goals.

HOW DOES EMS PELVIC FLOOR THERAPY WORK?

At NuWave, we utilize the latest technology in non-invasive pelvic floor therapy to deliver remarkable results quickly. Our FDA-approved device uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to stimulate deep and repeated muscle contractions in the pelvic floor and surrounding muscle groups. In effect, our device simulates thousands of Kegel exercises per session. The intensity of the contractions will be adjusted according to your tolerance. As these muscles grow stronger, you will likely be able to increase the intensity.

WHAT IS URINARY INCONTENANCE?
The pelvic floor is the bowl-shaped group of muscles in the pelvis that supports the pelvic organs, including the bladder. The pelvic floor muscles can weaken over time, due to trauma, or with childbirth, leading to leakage of urine in response to pressure on the bladder. This leakage is known as stress urinary incontinence.

There are two kinds of urinary incontinence, both of which can compromise your quality of life:

  • Stress urinary incontinence can arise at some of the most inopportune times, such as when coughing, laughing, sneezing, or even exercising.
  • Urge incontinence is a sudden, intense urge to urinate that happens frequently. It can be triggered by the sound of running water or arise when you pull into your garage after a long day at work.

Our EMS pelvic floor therapy works to effective treat both kinds of urinary continence.

WHAT IS PELVIC PROLAPSE?
Pelvic organ prolapse is characterized by descent of pelvic organs from their normal positions into the vagina. In women, the condition usually occurs when the pelvic floor collapses after gynecological cancer treatment, childbirth or heavy lifting.

SHOULD I CHOOSE ELECTROMAGNETIC (EMS) OR LASER TREATMENTS FOR MY PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION?

You may have heard of laser treatments, such as MonaLisa Touch, FemiLift, or FemTouch for tightening the vaginal area and improving stress incontinence.
At NuWave, we prefer the approach using electromagnetic waves over laser methods because:

  • Lasers work by prompting your tissues to strengthen through a “controlled injury,”; whereas, electromagnetic technology applies the equivalent of very strong Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor naturally.
  • Laser treatments are intended for both vaginal rejuvenation and urinary incontinence. Our EMS based device works to strengthen pelvic floor and surrounding muscle groups from the inside out to deliver more comprehensive benefits.
  • Laser treatments are specifically designed for women, but EMS pelvic floor therapy has proven to be beneficial for both men and women
  • Laser treatments require a few days avoiding sexual activity in order for your tissues to heal. EMS based pelvic therapy requires no downtime or restrictions.
