Whole Body Light Therapy

red light therapy: healing beyond the surface

Also known as photo-bio-modulation (yeah, so let’s just stick with ‘red light therapy’), is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level or near-infrared light to promote tissue repair, reduced inflammation, and improve skin health. Increasingly, we are discovering that it also has powerful mental health benefits.

what are the benefits of red light therapy?

skin health:

Improves skin health by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture, and reducing acne scars and other blemishes.

joint pain & Inflammation:

Reduces joint pain and inflammation, and improves range for conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.

muscle recovery:

Many athletes and fitness enthusiasts use light therapy to accelerate muscle recovery after intense workouts or injuries.

mood disorder:

May help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety by increasing levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter responsible for regulating mood.

hair growth:

Promotes hair growth by increasing blood flow to hair follicles, stimulating collagen production, and activating dormant hair follicles.

At NuWave, we offer our clients the most advanced and powerful whole body red light therapy from NEOSience, well recognized as thought and innovation leaders in light based therapy.

how does whole body red light therapy work?

During a NEO Red Light Bed session, our clients lie down on the LED bed, which emits low-level red and near-infrared light.  It’s very similar to lying in a tanning bed, but without the heat. The light penetrates he skin and is absorbed by cells in the body.

The light stimulates activity at the cellular level, reducing oxidative stress, improving circulation, reducing pain, and increasing the promotion of collagen and other proteins that aid in tissue repair.

Our NEO bed offers clients a choice of 3 different light therapy colors, each with their own distinct benefits.

What is the Difference Between Infrared Saunas and Red / Infrared Light Beds?

While both therapies use the term “infrared”, they are actually completely different treatments. Infrared saunas use light to generate heat. Specifically, infrared saunas use FAR-infrared heat to stimulate circulation, increase circulations, and activate sweat glands for detoxification. Red Light Therapy uses a combination of red light and NEAR-infrared cold light that penetrates deep into the cell and does not involve producing heat to create health benefits. The health benefits come from reverse oxidative stress, reduced pain and inflammation, and improved cellular energy production.

“I describe the mechanisms by which different wavelengths of light impact the cells, tissues, and organs of the human body, and how specifically timed light exposure of specific wavelengths can be used to improve sleep, enhance alertness, modulate hormone levels, and improve mood. I also explain the use of ultraviolet and infrared phototherapies to relieve pain increase testosterone and estrogen levels; improve skin health, appearance, and wound healing; and how red light can be used to offset age-related vision loss and provide neuroprotection. Throughout the episode, I describe the mechanisms of light-based therapies and actionable tools that people can use positively impact mental and physical health.”
